One of the most frequently adopted methods to boost the productivity in many countries is to extend working hours. However, this approach can easily be condemned for several negative problems caused for both individual workers and the society.
Theoretically, given that the unit output is fixed, the longer people work in office or factory, the more the total output will be, therefore the company and the society will benefit more significantly in terms of economic capacity. For example, for people who have passion in their work, they are often willing to work overtime and their extra efforts can be amply rewarded. Under this circumstance, long working hours pay off, which in turn stimulate the creativity and productivity. Also, in many fields like scientific research, scientists have to work longer hours without interruption to obtain research results. Therefore it is not rare that in many hi-tech companies, particularly those start-ups, engineers often work day and night before developing their ideas into commercial successes. For them, short and discontinuous working hours are fruitless and only long hours can guarantee uninterrupted and efficient thinking, a crucial factor to turn knowledge into productivity.
However, long workdays can also bring numerous negative issues if not properly handled. First, people who spend vast majority of their time on work often find it difficult to strike a balance between their family and career. As they have little time to communicate with their family members, the family relationship becomes less closed and alienation often leads to misunderstanding and conflict. Second, working long hours can not only causes physical exhaustion, but also mental problems like anxiety, stress and depression. People who suffer these problems for a long time can be ruined both physically and psychologically, which in the
long run is definitely of no use in promoting productivity. Moreover, there are still some places where people are obliged to work long hours but get underpaid. While the employers rear lucrative profits, the employees struggle for survival with small wages. With this unequal situation, it is easy for those exploited to go on strike or even commit crimes once their demands cannot be met, therefore the social stability cannot be guaranteed.
In conclusion, I tend to think work is only a part of people's life and people's standard working conditions should be guaranteed by law, otherwise severe social problems cannot be avoided. And I also believe those who work overtime voluntarily or get paid for their extra efforts can do good to both personal achievement and accumulation of social wealth.

There are advantages as well as disadvantages of getting international aid. International aid helps facilitate many developmental programs in developing countries. It can also provide to solve problems like refugees, terrorism, rehabilitation and many other problems. International aid when given in the form of loans can earn interest .
