Unit 2

Good afternoon, dear judges, I’m Sun Hongying, from Yuan Quan Junior High School. It is my great honor to have this opportunity to be here and share my lesson with you. My presentation is made up of six parts.

Part 1 The analysis of the teaching material

The central topic of unit 2 is festival. It is greatly related to our daily life. By the study of this unit, students should talk about something about their favorite festivals in English and the reasons why they like this festival. At the same time, they should know and master the usage of Objective Clause. Objective Clause is of vital importance in the English study of Junior High School. To learn this unit well is quite helpful to the following study, which plays a transitional role. In the senior high school entrance examination, not only do the choice questions refer to Objective Clause, but also the reading passages appear plenty of Objective Clauses. In conclusion, this unit plays a very important part in the whole English teaching process.

Part 2 The analysis of the teaching objectives 1 the knowledge objective:

A By the end of this lesson, students can master the important words and phrases, about Mid-Autumn Festival.

B Students can understand, master and talk about different festivals in English. 2 the ability objective

A By the task-based activities, students can skim for the main idea of the article and scan for the specific information to improve their reading ability. 3 the emotional objective

A Students can develop interest to English study.

B Through reading study of this unit, students can improve cultural consciousness. 4 Teaching key point:

By reading tasks, students can master the important words and phrases in the passage and improve reading ability. 5 Teaching difficult point: A How to use objective clauses

B How to use exclamatory sentences to express feelings. Part 3 the analysis of teaching students

The students have learned English for several years so far. But most of them is poor

in

English. However,they are curious about new things and have a strong desire to learn better. However, their English learning level are different from each other. They need

Teacher’s help and encouragement in their further study. Part 4 the analysis of teaching methods

In my lesson, I will use multimedia computer assisted instruction, task-based activities, situational approach, and the computer, backboard as the teaching aids. At the same time, the learning method of students are individual learning, cooperative learning and discussion.

Part 5 the analysis of teaching procedures 1 lead-in(2mins)

Lead-in the topic by presenting some pictures of Mid-Autumn Festival.

Purpose: Make students get involved in the theme and develop interest to this passage. 2 pre-reading(3mins)

Introduce Mid-Autumn Festival briefly. It is one of the Chinese traditional festivals It is on lunar August 15

There is a folk story about Chang’e.

Purpose: Pave the way to the following learning of the passage. 3 while-reading(20mins)

1) fast-reading

3a Read the passage about Mid-Autumn Festival and answer the questions. How do people celebrate the Middle-Autumn Festival? What story is the reading about? 2) careful-reading

3b Read the passage carefully. Put the events in the correct order.

Purpose: The two tasks are aim to develop Ss’ reading ability: skimming for the main ides of the article, and scanning for the specific information and then get a deep understanding of the article.

3) post-reading

Work in group and discuss 2c. Without looking at the passage, try to complete the sentences. This activity is aim to develop the spirit of cooperation and train the ability of solve problem by themselves. 4 language points(15mins)

The teacher guides the students read the passage sentence by sentence and word by word to analyse the important and difficult words, phrases and sentence structures in the passage. 5 summary and homework(5mins)

The teacher make a brief summary of this class and assigns homework. Review the language points in the passage and preview Grammar Focus.

Purpose: Make students consolidate the language points and do prepare for the next lesson. Part 6 layout
