1. Do you like to chat with strangers on the Internet? Do you have a QQ
number?
Yes. Chatting on the Internet has become one of my hobbies. I have a QQ number and a MSN number. With the numbers, it's very easy and convenient for me to use the Internet to communicate with my friends, if they are also online. That way, no matter where I am or where my friends are, we can talk on something what are interested in. Usually I chat with my friends, my old classmates in high school and people I play football with. Once a while I also meet strangers on the Internet, I don't mind talking to them, if they are polite enough.
2. Do you mind revealing your true identity while chatting with strangers on the
Internet? If a stranger introduces himself or herself, do you tend to trust him or her? Why or why not?
While chatting with strangers on the Internet, I usually would not reveal my true identity to strangers and few strangers would reveal their true identity to me, either. I think there are several reasons for this practice. First, there's no need for me to reveal my true identity to strangers. Second, there's no way to check what a stranger says on the Internet. Third, the main reason for me to chat on the Internet is to kill time, like writing some witty words to amuse others or getting some funny responses from others. That's all. So there's no reason for me to know or provide true identity in Internet chat rooms.
3. Do you chat with strangers on a train when going home during the vacation
in order to kill time? What kind of persons do you choose to talk to?
Well, it depends. If I travel alone, I would probably chat with strangers on a train, especially during a long joumey. Of course, I chat with strangers in order to kill time and would pick persons of my age to talk to. I think people of the same generation usually share a lot in common and do not have a barrier in exchanging ideas or in understanding each other. The other kind of persons I'd like to talk to is children. In my view, children are more sincere and less sophisticated than adults. Besides, they are easy to get along with Part B

I. A Stranger on the Internet (by Meaghan)
I was first introduced to the Internet when I was thirteen. While in real life I was a very shy and \girl, on the Internet I was a completely different person. I found myself able to talk to everyone online, and send e-mails saying things no one in my position would even dare think of in real life. I'm not exactly sure why, but I think it had something to do with no one being able to see my unattractive face, and no one being able to hear my low, grave voice. If my “Net friends” saw me offline, they’d probably all head for the hills!
But on the computer screen it did not matter, because what I typed was what I was. Within just a few months I became active in writers' circles. I even created my own young writers' club and through that made writer friends of all ages.
This is the story of a very special one. It's been two years since that first offline meeting, and eighteen months since he and his motor went up in flames while I looked on. But I still think of Jack every day, and I will never forget him.
I remember the day I first met him in a chat-room. I’m not exactly sure how we got to talking but we did, and after that there no stopping us. One thing that perked his interest considerably was my mention that my favorite was John Durante. Instantly the screen was filled with pixels out of control.
What's your favorite of his books? Do you know much about him? Do you want to write like him? So many questions and so fast, my browser nearly crashed. We talked about John Durante for an hour or so and there was a lot to talk about as John was a sort of \discussion. His books were classified \that a person of any age, so long as they were mature, could read them. Also, we both liked the unhappy ending that were present in many of the books. As Jack said, it was just more realistic that way. The good guy didn't always win. I added that I thought John was brave to be such a non-conformist. For some reason Jack found this amusing.
The conversation went on from there and we were both very talkative. We drifted from one topic to another: writing, books, publishers, the unreliability of free e-mail services, the weather. In the end, when my mother told me to log off and get to bed, we exchanged e-mail addresses. I remember chuckling a little at his. It was an address I would never forget.
The e-mails continued for about six months after that. Jack and I had a lot in

common: a dry sarcastic sense of humor, a love of books and writing and practical jokes, the same hair color, the same favorite food. . . It's amazing, though, how little we really knew about each other. I don’t think we never bothered to ask each other's full names even. He was Jack I was Alice. Nothing more. I never knew his age, either. I estimated through his e-mail that he was a youngish adult, college-age maybe, and I think he could tell that I was a teenage, but neither of us mentioned it. None of these issues ever seemed to crop up. So many things were left unasked, and while I knew so much about him I never really knew who he was.
Jack was the one who suggested the meeting, and at first I balked. Not because I was afraid he was a serial killer or something, but because I had never met any of my keypals offline and I didn't know how to act. But Jack could be gently persuasive when he wanted to be, and I found myself agreeing to meet him in Central Park after school was let out for the day.
I was a bit nervous, and I told him that. He understood. It's okay,\me. The meeting will go fine. I'll ride my motorcycle from Worcester to Manhattan and you just walk.” He asked me if I had a distinctive piece of clothing. I answered yes, a red silk windbreaker. He told me to wear it at the meeting so he could recognize me.
I can just see myself now: a nervous little girl, fidgeting in her black skirt and crimson jacket, the wind playing with her long dark hair. Sitting on the park bench, waiting for the Moment to arrive.
The motorcycle pulled up and a tall and rather handsome dark-haired man got off. He looked vaguely familiar, but I couldn't place him. His eyes scanned the crowd, looking for that splash of red. They fell on me and he started walking in my direction... \hugging me in an almost paternal way. \

stranger danger, were shocked at what happened.
The first kid tested was 2-year-old Samantha, who was approached by a police officer Childers. He asked the little girl, %upstairs to see the movie, to see the Santa movie? Can you hold my hand? Let's go for a walk.\, it took just 12 seconds for the girl to wander off with someone she didn't know. She was lured by candy and the promise of a movie. After a few moments, the officer asked Samantha where her mommy was. She said she didn't know. Samantha's mom Tara said,”I was scared, really scared I was like shaking. Normally when you try to talk to her she'll say, 'no,' and hide behind me.\
Samantha's parents said that because of her age, they haven't talked with her yet about stranger danger. After seeing how easily Samantha wandered off with a stranger, her mom Tara said, \.\
What about older kids? Would they go with a stranger? Another police officer Bryant, a friendly grandfather type, approached 3-year-old Shannon. Officer Bryant asked the kid, \you want to go with me and see a couple of nice-looking little puppy dogs?” The kid agreed after Bryant asked again and showed her the direction they were going to see the puppies. Meanwhile, Shannon's mom Cindy watched in shock as a county police officer -- but still a stranger – walked away with her daughter. After only a few moments, Bryant told Shannon that they better go back and find her mommy. Cindy let Shannon know going with a stranger was wrong but reassured her by saying, \Everybody makes mistakes.\
Parents try to encourage kids to stay close and teach them what to do if they become separated. But sometimes, as in the case of 3-year-old Catherine, it doesn't work. Catherine's mom Alexandra said, “I’ve taught my daughter to say, 'I don't know you. Where's my mommy?' We practiced yelling it before and she thought it was funny and she was too embarrassed to yell it. That's frustrating.
Captain Harry Seider, who's in charge of county police detectives, said. \parents need to talk to their kids a little more. It only takes a split second to take a child and they're gone.\
When kids are missing, their parents' worst nightmare begins. The image of the dirty old man in the raincoat is so false, because these people get access to children not by being dangerous looking and evil-looking, but by being charming and friendly.
