Unit 5 Why do you like pandas?
一、单元分析
本单元围绕“animal”展开一系列教学活动。要求学生掌握一些新的动物名词,学会用表示性质和品质的形容词来描述动物,运用所学的知识表达自己的喜好,并能用“Why do you like...?Because...”来陈述喜欢的原因。
本单元出现的语言材料,如动物生活的地域,在前面就学习过了;再如,一些描述性的形容词在平时的学习中已有所涉及。
二、学情分析
本单元学习的各种各样的动物可以激发学生的求知欲望,因为是他们熟悉又感兴趣的内容,有利于本单元知识的教学和学生学习兴趣的培养。
三、教学目标 1.语言技能目标
(1)能用表示性质和品质的形容词来描述动物,如:The koalas are kind of cute. (2)能表达对动物的喜好并陈述原因,如:I like koalas, because they are very cute. 2.语言知识目标
(1)掌握一些动物的名称,如:tiger, elephant, koala, panda, lion, giraffe;
(2)能使用正确、得体的形容词和副词来描述动物,如:kind of smart, cute, ugly, clever, very friendly, beautiful, shy;
(3)能运用why和because谈论对动物的喜好并陈述原因; (4)正确运用提建议的句型,如:Let's... 3.情感态度目标
(1)熟知相关动物的词汇,了解一些地域常识以及动物的产地,从而培养学生热爱动物的情感、保护环境的意识;
(2)学生用英语交流各自的喜好,懂得客观认识自己,正确认识他人,关心并体谅他人的情感。 4.文化意识目标
了解中西方在保护动物方面的不同做法。 5.学习策略目标
(1)认知策略:在学习中借助猜测的方法推测单词的意思,用归类的方法记忆单词;
(2)交际策略:通过同伴间的交流,引导学生积极、主动地参与到课堂中来;通过表达个人的喜好,增进同伴间的友谊,提高课堂效率。
四、重点难点 1.教学重点
(1)重点词汇:zoo, animal, tiger, elephant, panda, lion, giraffe, friendly, beautiful, shy, smart, cute, leg, pet, sleep, lazy, cat, Australia, South Africa, save, flag, water, danger, forget, place, tree, kill, over, cut down;
(2)重点句型:
-Why do you like pandas? -Because they are cute. They are kind of/very shy. -Why does he/she like pandas? -Because they are interesting. -Where are the pandas from? -They are from China. -What animals do you like? -I like dolphins.
(3)话题:Describe the animals; Express preference and give reasons。 2.教学难点
(1)学会用形容词以及一些程度副词来描述动物; (2)使用why/what/where引导的特殊疑问句;
(3)能用英语表述自己的好恶并用because引导的句型陈述原因。 Period 1 Section A (1a-2c)
1.Let's see the pandas first.让我们先看看熊猫吧。(课本第25页)
let's=let us, let's后面跟动词原形,意为“让我们做……吧”,常用来表示说话人的建议。let sb.do sth.意为“让某人做某事”。若人称代词作宾语,一定要用宾格。
提出建议的表达方法还有: Shall we do...?我们……好吗?
What/How about doing...?……怎么样?
2.-Why do you want to see them?你为什么想看它们呢? -Because they're interesting.因为它们有趣。(课本第25页)
(1)want作动词,意为“想要;想”,与would like同义,其用法有:
want sth.想要某物??
?want to do sth.想要干某事 ??want sb.to do sth.想要某人干某事
如:
Do you want to go shopping?你想去购物吗?
(2)because和so在英语中不能连用,只能用其一。如: Because he is ill, he can't go to school. =He is ill, so he can't go to school. 因为他生病了,所以他不能去上学。
3.Because they're kind of interesting.因为它们有点儿有趣。(课本第26页)
(1)kind of意为“有几分;有点儿”,是一个表示程度的副词短语,可修饰形容词或副词。当a little修饰形容词或副词时,可视为kind of的同义短语。
(2)kind的其他用法:a kind of意为“一种……”,all kinds of意为“各种各样的”。kind作形容词,意为“善良的”,be kind to sb.意为“对某人和蔼”。,
