The word advertising refers to any ind of public announcement that brings products and services to the attention of people. Throughout history, advertising has been an effective way to promote(促进)the trading and selling of goods. In the Middle Ages, merchants employed \to promote their goods. When printing was invented in the fifteenth century, pages of advertisements(ads)could be printed easily and were either hung in public places or put in boos.
By the end of the seventeenth century, when newspapers were beginning to be read by more people, printed materials became an important way to promote products and services. When I recently revealed to my friends, colleagues, and family members that I would be moving my family to Israel, the reactions were numerous and varied. Some people said it was an epected thing while others ased Why now? What will you do?
For me, maing the move to Israel is the fulfillment of a dream that has lasted for my 47 years of life. I have always nown that Israel is my home. Over the years Israel has been in my heart, but I have found a number of reasons to put off maing it my permanent residence ids, the economy, education… you name an ecuse, and at some point I have probably used it.
Truthfully, I believe that I was always just a little bit scared. And of course I still am, with the fear factor that is reported by the press surrounding the Israeli military and economy. However, it has come to the point when I have realied that for over 2000 years we have longed for this land, and that for 47 years I have denied the opportunity to mae it my home. I am finally ready to fully grasp this opportunity.
Over the years, I have always loved visiting Israel. I have traveled there with my family, and enjoyed introducing thousands of travelers to the country. I have come to love all of these things about Israel as a tourist because I get to love my home. And as far as waiting for the “perfect” condition under which to mae aliyah, I believe the time is now! I have been ased many times if I am nervous about moving to Israel. Before I answer, I remember that we have overcome the Grees, the Romans, the Russian illings, Hitler and the Holocaust(大屠杀),and the armies of seven countries.
How can I not feel confident that I , and my family, will overcome any difficulties that may come our way? I am not worrying, complaining, crying, or fearing as I prepare to mae aliyah. Chinese students’ etremely neat handwritten compositions have aroused a heated debate among Internet users since photos of the compositions and a teacher’s picy remars were published on Daily Mail Online.
“Can you believe this essay is handwritten? ” Daily Mail Online ased.
The website reported on the compositions that looed lie they had been machine printed and on the teacher’s remars at Hengshui High School in North China’s Hebei Province, one of China’s top 100 high schools. The teacher wrote, “not one stroe (笔画) more, not one stroe less” about some compositions that weren’t neatly written.
The story immediately aroused a heated debate among British Internet users and got 652 comments after it was published on Wednesday. Some British readers were amaed by the neat handwriting and attributed (归于)China’s growing development to this strict teaching method. A reader named Jim said, “This is another eample of why China is rising to the top”, and his comment gained 72 supports. But some readers thought the too-picy method doesn’t mae sense in helping students learn better English and suppresses(压制) students’ creativity.
Chinese Internet users also epressed different opinions after English newspapers, a user of China’s Twitter lie Sina Weibo, posted the story along with its comments on Weibo on Thursday. Since then, the post has received 1, 479 comments. Sina Weibo user wenjinetui said, “Beautiful handwriting proves an ability”, echoing an old Chinese saying that the style is the man. However, another Weibo user, honorificabilitus, said, “It’s meaningless to pursue that neat English handwriting, since learning language is for communicating, let alone English students don’t write that neatly. ”
