新媒体(New media)概念在1967年由美国人戈尔德马克率先提出的。所谓新媒体是相对于传统媒体而言的。此后,不同的学者对新媒体的概念从不同的角度进行了解读:有学者认为,新媒体是一个相对的概念,新媒体通常指的是时间上出现较晚,功能上或特性上与既有媒体存在某种差别的媒体;也有学者从新媒体具有的数字特性的角度出发,认为凡是基于数字技术在传媒领域运用而产生的新媒体形态即是新媒体;也有学者看到了新媒体对互联网技术的运用于依赖,主张新媒体是在互联网基础上实现多对多或点对点传播,具有与用户互动等交互功能的媒介样式。美国新媒体理论家曼诺维奇在《新媒体语言》一书中探讨了了以计算机为基础的新媒体的重要意义。曼诺维奇认为我们这个时代处于一个新媒体革命的关键时期,所有媒体类型,都受到了计算机媒体的深刻影响。也有专家提出新媒体就是指的那些构成的基本要素有别于传统媒体的媒体形式。 3新媒体艺术的发展及其艺术特征 3.1新媒体艺术的发展

新媒体艺术的发展历程深刻体现了科学和艺术的完美融合,科学技术在一定意义上影响并促进了艺术的生成和发展,艺术的发展和成果同样也推动并影响着科学的进步与发展。可以说,新媒体艺术己经变成广泛意义上的科学技术实践与艺术文化相结合的产物,新媒体艺术突破了传统艺术的创作手法和创作标准,对科学技术和新的信息传播媒介的推崇与倚重,使新媒体艺术作品能够营造倚重全新的情景和特殊的氛围,这种突破与创新构成了新媒体艺术的独特艺术内涵。 3.2新媒体艺术的特征 互动性
