The Influence of Columbia Exchange

The Columbian Exchange changed the world today big time.It is one of the most important events in history. It was about the exchange between ------- and “India”. It started in 1492 when Christopher Columbus arrived in the Americas.

This exchange includes many different kinds of things. Such as living organisms, crops and culture. It also spread different diseases. For example, the disease Smallpox moved from ------ to the New World, killing 90~95% of the Native Americans. 1

Foods and crops are also one of the biggest changes during the exchange.Just like Pineapples. It is

originally from South America. The natives of southern Brazil and Paraguay spread the pineapple throughout South America, and it eventually reached the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico. And then Columbus encountered the pineapple and brought it back with him to Europein order to exchange the pineapple with the old world.2Another example is chili.They are from South America and were

introduced in Indialater, and today it is an important part of Indian culture.

It’s not hard to see that the Columbia Exchange had really helped develop civilization. It changed the food culture, culture of societies and even the thoughts of human beings! The huge difference it made couldn’t be ignored.
