Well, you are pretty good at predicting. Here are some good predictions. Why not read the passage by yourself to check whether this information is talked about or not? You only have 2 mins. Remember when you read the passage, you are sure to meet some new words. Don’t be eager to look them up. Try to guess their meanings according to the context or you can refer to the word bank on page 85. Understand me? Here we go! IV. While-reading:(4 min)
1) Skimming (1 min): main idea/workout the correct sequence of the text
Ask students to skim the text and try to find the main idea of the passage as soon as they can. How is the passage organized? The passage is organized in the order of (time, places, events, importance)
After your reading, I will ask you some questions to check your understanding.
You will have about one min to go through the passage and find the main idea. And think about this question: how did you find that? Now, let’s read it.
When you finish, you can discuss with your neighbor: how did you find the main idea? Is there any volunteer who can tell me the main idea of this article?
Good idea. Do you agree with him? Any disagreement? Any different opinion? How did you find it?
You find it by reading the first sentence and the last sentence of all the paragraphs. Good answer! What do we usually call these sentences? Do you know? Yeah, top sentences. Usually we can find the main idea by reading the topic sentences. Good job!
What do we need if we want to be excellent basketball players or to be successful in our life? Please think it over. Perhaps you don't know the answer to the question. Don't worry. I'm sure you will get it after reading the passage. Please take out your paper at page one, we know the test is made up of two parts. You will be divided to two groups. Got it? Let's begin.

I will divide you into several groups. There will be six students in one group. Now let me introduce the task for you. First, I will give every one a piece of paper. There will be part of the text on this piece of paper. So what you need to do is that first read the text on the paper to your group members. When everyone finishes reading, all the group members should work together to find out the right sequence of the whole text. Now, I will give you the paper.

Please discuss natural wonders in groups and your discussion should be based on the two questions. This time, the group leader should take down your group members’ ideas and sum them up in your own words. Later, we will share your ideas with all of us here. Understand me? Time is up. V. Post-reading (1 min) role-play/interview/retell/application/续写
This passage is a very good example for us to follow if we are supposed to write a similar passage like this. Please go through the passage quickly again to pick put the words, expressions or sentence patterns that are useful in your writing.
