Teaching Objectives By the end of this lesson, students are able to 1. say the words ’bread’, ’butter’, ’cheese’, ’ham’, ’jam’ and ‘vegetables’; 2. apply the sentences ‘Would you like some …? Yes, please. / No, thank you.’ Teaching Aids Task Section 1 E-book/ picture cards/ sentence cards/sandwich/ food: bread, butter, cheese, ham, jam, vegetables. Make sandwiches. ? Learn the new words: bread, butter, cheese, ham, jam, vegetables ? Learn the sentences: Would you like some …? Yes, please. / No, thank you. Warm up Sing a song: Yummy Lunch! 1. Play the CD. 2. Do suitable actions to go with the song. Learn the new 1. words and sentences. Show them a sandwich and ask, ‘Do you like sandwiches?’. 2. Give out copies of the storyline and ask some questions. E.g Who is she ? What are they doing? 3. Play the E-book then ask, ’What do they have?’ prompt the students to answer ‘bread/butter/ cheese/ham/jam/vegetables.’ Practice 1. Show them a basket which has many delicious food in it. 2. Have pupils to see /smell/touch/guess what food it is. 3. Ask pupils, ‘Would you like some …?’ and then guide them to answer ‘Yes, please. /No, thank you.’ 3. Put the sentence cards ‘Would you like some …?’, ‘Yes, please.’ and ‘No, thank you.’ on the board. Ask pupils to put the picture cards after ‘Would you like some …?’ and read out the sentences together. ? Activity 1 Game: Hungry Tiger Rule: Have three pupils come to the front to role play, one being hungry tiger, and the other two being protectors. Teacher point to the food, students ask the tiger ‘Would you like some…?’ If the tiger answers,’Yes,please.’ The protectors should run to the food and cover it with the plate. Teacher rewards the fastest one. 1. Do a demo. 2. Divide the pupils into two groups and then invite two students from each group to be protectors. 3. Invite one student to be tiger. 4. Teacher rewards the fastest one. 5. Repeat steps until all the students have participated in the game. Section 2 ? Activity 2 Role play 1. Divide students into three groups and have them sit around the tables accordingly. 2. Do a demo. 3. Students act in groups. (The waiter walks to the customers and asks, ‘ Would you like some…?, Customers would answer, ‘Yes, please. or No, thank you ! The waiter gives the food to those who say yes. ) 4. Show time. Make ? Activity 3 Make sandwiches 1. Show the food ingredients to the students and guide them say out the words. 2. Ask students to take out their food ingredients to make sandwich. 3. Get students to show their sandwiches and to introduce it. After class, students would share their sandwiches with parents and introduce the ingredients. e.g. ‘This is bread.’ ‘This is butter.’ Sandwiches. Homework
