An old father left seventeen camels (骆驼) to his three sons before he died. Some days later, he left this will（遗嘱） to his sons and died.
According to the will, the eldest son should get half of the seventeen camels, the middle son should get one-third of the seventeen camels, and the youngest son should get one-ninth of the seven-teen camels.
However, nobody could divide (把……分成……)seventeen into half or make seventeen divided by three or by nine. The three sons started to fight with each other. Then they decided to go to an old man.
After the old man learned about the thing, he brought one camel of his own and added(添加) it to the seventeen. So the number was eighteen. Then the old man started reading the father’s will. Half of eighteen is nine, so he gave the eldest son nine camels. One third of eighteen is six, so he gave the middle son six camels.
