M: Thank you. Is Brussels your final destination?
W: No. I’ll travel around the country first and then go to Paris to take part in a competition. M: When are you leaving?
W: I' m leaving on August 15th, and I’ll be staying in the two countries for a total of ten days. M: How long will you be in each country?
W: I’ll stay in Brussels for four days. My friend's studying there. Then we will travel together along the coast for a few days. Then I’ll spend the last three days of my trip in Paris for the competition and then fly back to Beijing. M: Fine. Do you have much luggage?
w: Just what I have here—one suitcase and a backpack. M: Good. Welcome to Belgium and have a nice trip. W: Thank you. (Text 9)
W: Hi Jack. How’s it going? M: Hmm. all right ... not great.
W: How were your midterm exam results?
M: All right, but I didn’t get the grades I needed in math and science.
W: Oh no—bad luck. What are you going to do? I thought you really wanted to do medicine. M: No. That’s what my parents wanted me to do. W: Oh, OK. So what do you want to do?
M: I don’t know, exactly. I like history and languages. I got an A in French!
W: That’s great! Maybe it would be better for you to do something like that at university. M: Even if I can get the grades for math and science, I’m not sure about doing medicine. W: Hmm. Well, you have many talents. Jack. but maybe being a doctor isn’t for you.
M: No. It’s not — although my parents aren’t going to be happy.
W: Well, you need to make the right decision. even though they might not like it. M: Yeah. Maybe I should talk to them.

Last Saturday three of my classmates and I went to buy some books, and ended up having a very interesting experience.
That afternoon we rode shared bicycles to Beijing Book Building as planned. We were all excited. enjoying the warm autumn sunshine after five days of rain. We were also all happy about the convenience of the shared bicycles. However, when we arrived we noticed many other shared bicycle's parked all over the place. many of them blocking the way of the passers-by. One of my classmates suggested that we put them in order, so we got down to work immediately. It took us about ten minutes to arrange the bicycles in an orderly manner. We all felt a great sense of satisfaction, seeing the tidy row of bicycles. and many onlookers thanked us for clearing the path for people to walk.
That experience has made me concerned about shared bicycles. They are indeed 8nvcnient. but f do think that we must put them in the proper place after using them. Doing so will not only

keep the environment neat and tidy, but will also encourage those around us to be good citizens as well. concerned for the welfare of others.
