In the middle of the 1800s, France was considered the most important place in the world for art. One reason for that was the Academy, a government organization with some strict r 86 about art. It decided what could and could not be art. In order to be accepted by the Academy, an artist had to be very talented. Artists also had to paint exactly the way the Academy wanted them to. A brave group of painters challenged(挑战) these ideas and changed art f 87 .

was to paint a scene(场景) which was as s 89 as a photo. It was also more interesting to show all of the different colours when light hits an object like water.

The little village of Milford in Derbyshire is usually quiet and peaceful and there is almost no crime. However, all this changed in the summer of 1995, when the Potter family moved into No. 16 Church Lane. There was Mr and Mrs Potter, their six children, aged between three and twenty-two, three dogs, several cats and two goats(山羊). The Potter family were noisy: the children played loud music day and night and the animals were never quiet.
Dorothy Price lived next door to the Potters. She was an elderly woman who had lived in Milford all her life. At first, the noise didn’t disturb her and she told other neighbours that the Potters seemed to be a pleasant family who were always friendly. But as time went by and the noise got worse, Dorothy started to get very upset.
One day, she complained to Mrs Potter that the goats had been making a noise all night and had kept her awake. On another occasion, she told Mr Potter to stop running his car engine on Sunday
