苗雨森教育·英语 III.重点语法——情态动词can 的用法 1.can及其情态动词的兄弟们: 情态动词有can(could),may(might),must,have to,shall(should),will(would),dare(dared),need(needed),ought to等。情态动词无人称和数的变化;不能单独使用,必须与其后的动词构成谓语。 (1)can 表示“能、会”,指脑力或体力方面的(能力) (2)表示“可能”,常用于否定句或疑问句中,指某种可能性。 (3)表示“可以”,常用于口语中,指许可或请求做某事 2.can的肯否疑:
肯定句型为:主语+can+动词原形+其它。
否定句型为:主语+can not(can’t、cannot)+动词原形 疑问句型分为:一般疑问句型和特殊疑问句型两种类型。 一般疑问句句型为:Can +主语+动词原形+其它。表示“某人会(能,可以)做...吗?”用于口语时,常表示请求或许可。肯定回答:Yes,主语+can。 否定回答:No,主语+can’t。(回答时需注意:第一人称问,则第二人称答;第二人称问,则第一人称答;第三人称问,则第三人称答)
特殊疑问句句型为:a. Who can +动词原形+其它,该句型中的who相当于主语。
b.特殊疑问词(作定语)+名词+can+主语+动词原形+其它.该句型中的特殊疑问词常用how many,how much等。 How many boats can you see in the river?
c.特殊疑问词+can +主语+动词原形+其它。该句型中的特殊疑问词常用 what,where,when ,一般用肯定陈述句作答。 3.can表示猜测的用法:
Lily can’t be in the classroom. Can he come here today,please? 4.can和could的区别
(1).can 表示现在的能力,could表示过去的能力。
(2)在表示请求许可时,没有时间区别,在语气上could更加委婉客气,例如: Can I use your pen? / Could I have a look at your pen ?
(3)在表示可能性方面,没有时间区别,can可能性比could 大;表示逻辑上或理论上的可能性而不是某种实际上将要发生或发生的可能性,一般用于否定句和疑问句中。注意和may not 的区别。 He can’t be at home.他不可能在家。 He may not be at home.他可能不在家。
