An Analysis of Female Role in The Yellow Wallpaper

【摘要】Feminism is a part of social culture and one of the most important trends of thought. The Yellow Wallpaper was a represen-tative short story of Charlotte Gilman, a prominent American writer who was a feminist pioneer. Gilman, using\that the heroine, lived a life like a prisoner, from nervous condition to eventual madness. The short story reveals the inequality of men and women, male oppression of women and meanwhile it expresses the desire for equality between men and wom-en and the freedom of women.
