mess作名词，意思是“混乱，杂乱”，比如：The kitchen is in a mess.厨房真是又脏又乱啊o in a mess是固定搭配，指“到处都一团糟”。
关于mess的词组还有be a mess，指人处境困难；丽a mess of sth.就是‘‘大量的??”，相当于a lot of。另外，mess还可以作动词，表示“弄乱”，通常使用固定搭配mess up，比如：The little boy messed up the room.小男孩把房间弄乱了。 I mean it．的意思是“我是认真的”。当别人说Are you kidding?（你在开玩笑吗？）你可以用I mean it．来回答。

另外go ahead还表示请对方先走或先做某事，可译为：“你先走，你先请”，比如：Go ahead，please.你先请。
