课堂导学
Step 1: Pre-reading 1. Cartoon talk
T: Please look at the picture on P1 and read the funny dialogue between Hi and Lo; answer the following questions. (1) Where are Hi and Lo? (At a concert.) (2) Can Lo see the super star?
(3) What does ?see the stars? mean to Hi? (see famous people on the stage)
(4) What does ?see stars? mean to Lo? (see stars after your head was hit.) 2. Warming up
T asks more Qs and lead to the topic of this unit — People around us. T: Are you crazy about stars? S1: ...
Who is your favourite star?
Who is your favourite person? What does he/she look like?
(T may remind Ss: 他们喜爱或敬仰的人可以是名人、明星，也可以是身边的朋友或家人。）
T shows sentences on the blackboard on how to describe people:
My sister is beautiful. My mum is patient.
T asks Ss to talk about the people around them in groups. Ss discuss and present words to describe people.
T collects the words and classifies them on the blackboard (appearance or characters), and lead to the new words of cheerful, hard-working, patient and smart in the box of A1.
3. Learn sone key words for describing people
Ss look at the pictures and sentences in A1, and complete the sentences with the words cheerful, hard-working, patient and smart. Pic1: Tom is very smart. He can always answer the teacher?s questions. Pic2: Jim and David are cheerful. They are always happy. Pic3: These are hard-working students. They study hard. Pic4: She is a patient mum. She takes time to help her child.
4. T guides the students to find out the main ideas of the articles. Ss look at the pictures and the titles of the 3 articles on P3 and finish the exercises in B, learning and understanding the words cheerful and probably.
Step 2: While-reading 1. First reading (Skimming)
T: Ss, please read through the 3 articles and find out which of the questions are mentioned in the articles (PPT) . * What do they look like? √ * Why do we love them? √ * Where do they live? * What do/did they do? √ * What is their character like? √ * What are their hobbies?
2. Second reading
Read the 3 passages again and then answer the questions below: (1) What did Ben?s grandma look like? What did she do for his family? (2) What does Alice look like? How does she make Joyce laugh? (3) What does Mr. Li look like? Why are Mr. Li?s classes always full of fun?
3. Third-reading
Read the 3 passages carefully and fill in the tables below:
