Teaching objectives:

1. Vocabulary: farmer, factory worker, aunt, uncle, cousin, calendar, dictionary, diary 2. Target Language: Is this your dictionary?

No, it's not. It's Tony’s dictionary. What does she do? She’s a doctor.

Teaching key points:

New words in this Unit.

Teaching difficult points:

1. New words: calendar, dictionary

2. How to use the sentence pattern to get information.

Teaching aids:

tape recorder, picture cards, regalia (magazine, newspaper, planner)

Teaching procedure:

1. Warm up: ① Sing a song .

② Free talk with the class. 2. Revision:

What does he\\she do? (Use pictures) He’s a ……. (She’s) 3. Presentation (Vocabulary)

① Put picture cards 1---8 (picture-side up) on the board.

② T: (Point to farmer.) Farmer. Repeat. [Ss: farmer] Flip the card over to the word

③ Continue with the other cards.

④ Explain the words aunt, uncle, and cousin, e.g. My aunt is my mother’s/father’s sister.

(Draw a family tree on the blackboard)

⑤ T: Listen to the tape and repeat. Point to each word as you say it. ⑥ Play the tape and have Ss repeat.

⑦ Introduce the bonus vocabulary, magazine, newspaper, planner, using regalia. (Review)

① Put picture cards 1—4 on the board. ② T: (Show Ss one of the cards.) What does he/she do? [Ss: (He’s) a (farmer).] ③ Learn other words with the same way . ④ Do some actions : T :( Action ---farmer) S: Farmer

T: Listen to the tape and repeat,

⑤ Play the tape and pause after each sentence for Ss to repeat.

⑥ Using regalia in the classroom, e.g. a dictionary, have some Ss ask and answer using the first pattern.

⑦ T: Is this your (dictionary)? [S1: No, it’s not. It’s (S2’s name)’s (dictionary).] (Conversation)

① Put picture cards of Gogo, Tony, and Jenny on the board. ② (Point to Gogo) What’s his name? [Ss: His name’s Gogo.]

③ T: Can he fly? [Ss: Yes, he can.]Can he use magic? [Yes, he can.] (Using the book)

④ Point to Gogo in the first picture. ⑤ T: Gogo is flying in a hang glider.

⑥ T: Let’s look at the pictures and listen to the tape.

⑦ Play the tape and point to each picture for Ss to follow. ⑧ Let’s listen again and repeat.

⑨ Play the tape again, pausing after each sentence to let the Ss repeat. ⑩ Put Ss into groups of three and have them practice acting out the dialog. 4. Practicing

① Read and recite the conversation and vocabulary. ② Finish part ② on your Work Book. Blackboard Writing:
