Homework 1
1）As a boy and then as an adult, I never lost my wonder at the personality that was Einstein. He was the only person I knew who had come to terms with himself and the world around him. He knew what he wanted and he wanted only this: to understand within his limits as a human being the nature of the universe and the logic and simplicity in its functioning. He knew there were answers beyond his intellectual reach. But this did not frustrate him. He was content to go as far as he could.
从小到大，我从来没忘记的人就是爱因斯坦。他是我知道的唯一一个和自己还有这个他所处的世界取得共识的人。他知道什么是他想要的而且他想要仅仅是：以作为有限能力的人去理解宇宙的本质和宇宙的简单明了。他知道答案超出了他的智力所及。但是这并不能阻挡他，他尽可能地继续前行。
2）(A hungry Wolf eats a big, fat Sheep.) （一只饥饿的狼在吃一只肥胖的羊。）
Wolf (W): Yummy! That was delicious. Now I’m full. 狼：好香！羊真心好吃。现在我饱了。
(But a little while later, the Wolf feels something in his throat.) （但是过了一会儿，狼感觉有东西在它的喉咙里。）
W: Uh hum. (clears throat) What’s wrong? There’s something stuck in my throat. Oh no! It must be a bone. It hurts so much. I must get it out. But I
can’t.
狼：嗯（清下嗓子）怎么了？有东西卡在我喉咙里了。啊不！我必须把它弄出来。但是我做不到。
(The Wolf tries hard to take out the bone, but nothing works.) （狼试着把骨头弄出来，但是总办不到。）
W: It doesn’t go down. It doesn’t go up. I can’t do anything. I need help. 狼：这块骨头上不上，下不下。我简直拿它没有办法。我需要帮助。 (The wolf looks around for help. He finds a Rabbit.) （狼环顾四周寻求帮助。他发现一只兔子。） W: Hello there, little Rabbit. How have you been? 狼：嗨，小兔子。最近怎么样？ Rabbit (R): It’s a Wolf! I better run. 兔子：是一只狼！我得赶紧逃命。
W: Don’t run away! Listen to me for a minute. I have a small favor to ask.
狼：别跑！听我说。我一件小事相求。 R: What? A favor? What kind? 兔子：什么？小事？什么小事?
W: Well, there is a bone stuck in my throat. It hurts so much. If you take it for me, I’ll do anything for you.
狼：嗯，有一块骨头卡在我喉咙里了，很疼。如果你能帮我弄出来，我会为你做任何事。

R: Take out a bone for you? How? 兔子：给你取骨头？怎样取？ W: By putting your paws in my mouth. 狼：把你的爪子伸进我嘴里。
R: That’s dangerous. How do I know you are not tricking me? You could bite off my paws.
兔子：那样做很危险啊，我怎么知道你不是在跟我开玩笑？你很有可能咬掉我的爪子啊。
W: I am telling the truth. Please trust me. I’ll do anything. 狼：我说的都是真心话，请相信我，我会做任何事情。
R: Let me see. It is very tempting. But no thanks. I would rather live. I don’t trust you. Bye.
兔子：让我想想。这很是吸引人，但是还是算了，我还想活着，我不相信你，再见。
W: No, wait! Please don’t go! 狼：不，等一下！请不要走！
(The rabbit just hops away. The next day, the wolf’s throat hurts more and more. This time he finds a Sheep.)
（兔子就这样离开了。第二天，狼的喉咙伤得越来越厉害，这次它发现一只羊。）
W: Hello there, Miss Sheep. 狼：嗨，羊小姐。

Sheep: Oh please, Mr. Wolf! Don’t eat me! 羊：哦，狼先生！请不要吃我！
W: Don’t worry. I won’t eat you. I just need your help. 狼：不要担心，我不会吃你的，我只是需要你的帮助。 S: My help? What kind of help? 我的帮助？什么样的帮助？
W: Please take this bone out of my throat. It hurts so badly. I can’t eat. I can’t breathe well.
狼：请把骨头从我的喉咙里取出来，它把我的喉咙损伤得很厉害，我都不能吃东西了，也不能很好地呼吸了。
S: That’s too bad. But why should I help you? You ate my friend yesterday. And you might eat me today. Good-bye.
羊：真是糟糕，但是我为什么要帮你？你昨天吃了我的朋友，今天你可能也会吃掉我，再见。
W: Wait, Miss Sheep. I’ll do anything for you. Plus, I’ll give you a reward. Please! I won’t eat you! Come back!
狼：等等，羊小姐。我会为你做任何事。另外，我会给你奖励的。求求你，我不会吃你的！快回来！
(The Wolf keeps calling the Sheep, but the Sheep just keeps walking. The Wolf’s throat gets worse and worse. He can hardly speak now. The Wolf is very sick and depressed. Later, a Crane comes by. The Crane is a very kind bird.)
