Top Meal of the Day

A recent survey shows that nearly 30% of the students in our school do not have breakfast.

There are some common reasons for skipping breakfast. Some students want to spend the extra time dozing in bed because they work late into the night. Some students can’t find any readily available breakfast foods in the house because their parents are too busy. Many students skip breakfast because they don’t have enough time.

Without a nutritious breakfast, students tend to feel sleepy in class and can’t concentrate on what the teachers say, so it is hard for them to make progress in their study. What’s worse, skipping breakfast will do great harm to their health.

In fact, the morning meal plays an important part. It can provide 30 percent of the whole day’s energy, which helps improve the efficiency of their study. A healthy breakfast may reduce the risk of illness. School kids should start their day with a regular breakfast.

I’d like to thank you for your kind help in the terrible fog on my first day in London. It was your kindness that made me feel safe.

August 25, which was my first day in London, is an unforgettable day for me. On stepping on the land of London, I found myself caught in a terrible fog. I was at a loss and couldn’t find the way to my school. I was so frightened that I could hear my heart beating fast. Just at that time, you spoke to me and offered help. You took my hand and led me confidently to my school. On the way, you encouraged me how and then, which helped me get rid of fear. I wouldn’t have found my school so quickly without your help.

I have settled down and I have got used to the weather in London. Now and then I would think about you. I hope one day I can have the chance to express my thanks to you personally.

Sincerely yours,

Li Hua

A recent study shows that nearly 30 percent of the high school students do not have breakfast, As a result, they tend to feel sleepy all day and have poor memories. What's worse, it is impossible for them to concentrate on their studies and to get high marks in all kinds of tests .

The reasons why many students don’t have breakfast are as follows. On one hand, some students who study late into the night refuse to have breakfast so that they can have a few extra minutes in bed .On the other hand, some of the students are given money to buy breakfast on their way to school because their parents are too busy to prepare it for them . Besides, to our surprise, in order to stay slim and lose weight, a few school girls and boys often go to school without breakfast.

In my opinion, the morning meal plays an important part in our daily life, which can provide 30 percent of the whole day's energy .In addition, for creative abilities and better judgment, school kids are supposed to start their days with a regular breakfast.

I'm really glad to hear from you and know how you are getting along. I think it is common for you not to get used to the life there. Here I have some suggestions for you.

First of all, you should respect local customs and try to experience foreign lives and cultures. Just as a saying goes, \trying to make friends with them. Friendship will bring you happiness. Meanwhile, mind your own manners and remain modest and honest when getting on with them. Keep in touch with family and friends in China, from whom you can get more advice. It is also a good way to help develop the ability of independence. Finally, it is better for you to take more outdoor activities with your friends, which may help you relax and have fun. I hope you can adapt to your new life soon and enjoy your stay there.

Best wishes! 苏州中学

Recently we have conducted a survey of 2,000 junior and senior students in order to learn more about students’ reading habits.

37% of the junior students read less than 5 books every year. They prefer cartoon magazines and joke books. Meanwhile over 80% of the senior students read only one or two books, preferring popular novels, classic works and science fictions. Junior students say they have little interest in reading, while senior students complain that too much homework leaves them little time.

In my opinion, teachers and parents should encourage junior students to read more and make sure senior students have access to the Internet so that they can read whenever they are free. Also more reading materials should be provided, and most important of all, they should be given much less homework so that more of them can devote more time to reading. 江都中学

I can understand how you feel. When I was young,I had the same experience as you do.But after I talked with my parents heart to heart,we had a better understanding of each other. So try to commmunicate with your parents to let them know that you are wise enough to manage your own business well.To understand them better, always put yourself in their position.Take surfing the internet for example.Your parents’ worries are somewhat reasonable. You know, there are quite a lot of evil websites. If you are not careful enough, bad influence is almost certain.Don’t you think that all parents in the world love their children even though they are sometimes strict and serious? If you can spend your time and money more wisely,I’m sure that your parents will trust you and you will enjoy more freedom.

By the way,it’s understandable that your parents ask you to put your study in the first place.
