Your head is very important. At any age, an injury (伤害) to it may cause trouble to your memory. It’s very important to protect your head by wearing your seatbelt in the car and wearing a helmet when you skate or ride your bike.

You may have heard about a memory problem called amnesia (健忘症). This is when

someone can’t remember things that even happened recently and sometimes things that happened long ago. The commonest cause of amnesia is a traumatic brain injury (TBI)(创伤性脑损伤). A TBI can be caused by a serious hit on the head. Traumatic brain injuries can happen in a lot of ways.

Car accidents, bike accidents, and falls can cause TBIs. If you see someone getting a hit on the head in a football game, you will see the player being questioned. The doctor may ask the person some normal questions — like what happened, where they are, and what team they’re playing for. Not knowing the correct answers could be the first sign of a brain injury.

To study the nature of dog memory, Fugazza (lead writer of the study) and some people used 17 dogs of different types. They were trained to copy their owners’ action.

In the first step of the study, they showed the dogs six different things. And then they let the dogs watch how their owners acted with one of the three items, such as climbing on a chair or touching an umbrella. Then they ordered the dogs to do the action with the words “do it”.
