How do you study each day? You may answer it in one second: have classes at school, take notes and do homework. Feeling a little bored? There are other ways that can make learning interesting and diverse (多样的). It's called digital learning.
Digital learning is a way to help students learn by using the Internet. There are three important kinds of digital learning. Apps are computer software applications. People can download them on their mobile devices. The other two kinds are social networking services, including Weibo and Wechat websites. Everyone of them is like your teacher. They help you master what you learn at school.
Compared with regular learning ways, digital learning has its advantages. Digital learning is also diverse. It covers almost every school subject. More importantly, it's always updating (更新), which offers students the newest resources to learn from. Digital learning is also
personalized (个性化的). You can choose what you like to learn. If you don't master what you have learned at school, you can learn again through digital ways.
However, digital learning also has disadvantages. When you use digital ways to learn, you seldom communicate with teachers and classmates. As digital learning uses computers or smart phones, watching the screen too long may be bad for your eyes. It is better to take a rest every 20 minutes.

Climbing a mountain is hard work. But one step (脚步) after another finally brings a person to the top. Along the way, he can stop and look around. And the higher he climbs, the more wonderful his view is. If he keeps climbing, he will have a new world before him. He will have a new way to see everything.
Now learning a foreign language is something like climbing a mountain. This new language can give you a new view of life. And it is more than a look at the surface of things. It can open the way into people's minds and hearts and into a culture that is very different from your

A 14-year-old British student is packing for the next day of school: textbooks, notebooks, pens, 250 grams of flour, an egg and some cooking oil. Wait, what? It's not a joke.
From September, cookery will be a compulsory (必修的) course for kids aged 7-14 in the UK. Primary school students will learn how to put things together and make simple healthy food. At high school, students will then master a number of different meals. They will also learn some cooking skills including baking.
Britain is sometimes known as a country with bad food and unhealthy eating habits. These new courses are part of the country's effort to bring healthy food back onto the table.

We are all learning English, but how can we learn English well? A student can know a lot about English, but maybe (可能) he can't speak English. If you want to know how to swim, you must get into the water. And if you want to be a football player, you must play football. So, you see. You can learn English only by using it. You must listen to your teacher in class. You must read your lessons every day. You must speak English to your classmates and also you must write something sometimes. Reading is a good habit, but the problem is that there's too much to read these days, and too little time to read every word of it. There are hundreds of skills to help you read more in less time. Here are two skills that I think are especially good.
Preview (预览)—If it's long and hard. Previewing is especially useful for getting the main idea of heavy reading like long magazine articles and business reports. Here's how to preview.
? Read the first two paragraphs and the last two paragraphs carefully.
? Then read only the first sentence of the other paragraphs. Previewing doesn't give you all the details. It keeps you from spending time on things you don't really want or need to read. Skim (略读)—if it's short and simple. Skimming is a good way to get the main idea of light reading like popular magazines or the sports and entertainment (娱乐) of your daily paper. Here's how to skim.
? Get your eyes to move fast. Read across each line. ? Pick up only a few key words in each line.
Everybody skims differently. You and I may not pick up the same words when we skim the same piece, but we'll get a similar (相似的) idea of what it's all about. 1.Why should we learn some reading skills?
2.How many skills are recommended in this passage?
3.What can we do to get the main idea of a long and difficult article?
4.What skill can we use to get the main idea of a popular fashion magazine?

Reading for pleasure (快乐) is the easiest way to become a better reader in English. It is also the most important way.
Some students say they don't want to read for fun. They say they want to use their time to learn the rules of the language and new words. They say that pleasure reading is too easy. Many famous people say pleasure reading is very important for learning English. Dr.Stephen Krashen, a famous expert on learning languages, says that pleasure reading helps you learn many important things about English. Students learn more words when they read for pleasure. They also learn more about good writing.
Dr.Krashen tells us that pleasure reading is not the same as studying. When you read for pleasure, you choose (选择) your own books, and you don't have to remember everything. There are no tests on your pleasure reading books. 1.Is pleasure reading important for learning English?
2.What do some students think of pleasure reading?
3.How can we become better readers?

4.What does pleasure reading help the students in learning English?
5.What advantages (好处) of pleasure reading does Dr.Krashen tell us?

Thanksgiving Day is a very special day for people in the US. They celebrate it on the last Thursday in November. In the UK, this festival is called Harvest Festival (秋收感恩节) and people celebrate it earlier in the year, in September.
A harvest is the fruit you take from the tree and the crops (庄稼) you take from the ground. In North America and England, harvest time for most fruit and crops is in autumn. In these
countries, people give thanks to God for the good harvest on a special day of the year. People usually take some fruit, flowers, and vegetables to churches to show their thanks.
When some English people arrived in America, they held the first thanksgiving service not to thank God for the harvest, but to thank God for their safe journeys. The next year, more English people arrived. They had a bad winter. Luckily, the harvest was good. They decided to celebrate it with a big meal. They shot and killed small animals to eat and cooked
everything outside on large fires. About 90 Indians also came to the meal. Everyone ate at tables outside their houses and played games together. The festival lasted for three days. Nowadays, North Americans get together with their families on this day to eat good food and have a happy time.

\beauty of the moon together (但愿人长久,千里共婵娟).\Song Dynasty, in his well-known poem to his younger brothers Su Zhe.
The moon is at its brightest on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar (阴历). On this day, people celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival. It has been enjoying great popularity all over the country.
In ancient China, that day was a harvest (收获) festival because crops (庄稼) were harvested during that period. It was a time for relaxation and celebration.
Just like Thanksgiving in Western countries, families also try to get together for the Mid-Autumn Festival in China. Usually, no matter how far away or how busy they are, people will try to return home for the celebration.
The Mid-Autumn has its own special food just as other traditional Chinese holidays. People eat moon cakes with fillings such as sugar and eggs. The round shape of the cake makes it look like the full moon. The full moon and moon cakes stand for family reunion (团聚).
