How do you account for your remarkable achievements in life?Queen Victoria of the UK asked Helen Keller. How do you explain the fact that even though you were both blind and deaf, you were able to achieve so much?
Ms.Kellers answer is a tribute(¾)to her kind teacher. If it had not been for Annie Sullivan, the name of Helen Keller would have remained unknown.
According to speaker Zig Ziglar,Annie Sullivan was no stranger to hardship. She was almost sightless herself and was,at one time, diagnosed as hopelessly insane by her caregivers. She was locked in the basement of a mental
institution.Occasionally,Annie would violently attack anyone who came near. Most of the time she generally ignored everyone in her presence.
An elderly nurse believed there was hope, however, and she made it her work to show love to the child.Every day she visited Annie, and she left cookies for her and spoke words of love and encouragement. She believed Annie could recover,if only she were shown love.
Eventually, doctors noticed the change in the girl.Where they once witnessed anger and hate, they now noted a gentleness and love. They moved her upstairs where she continued to improve. Then the day finally came when this seemingly hopeless child was released.
Annie Sullivan grew into a young woman with a desire to help others as she, herself, was helped by the kind nurse. It was she who saw the great potential in Helen Keller. She loved her, disciplined(Լ)her, played with her, pushed her and worked with her until the flickering candle that was her life became a beacon()of light to the world.Annie Sullivan worked wonders in Helens life;but it was a loving nurse who first believed in little Annie and lovingly transformed an uncommunicative child into a kind teacher.
If it had not been for Annie Sullivan, the name of Helen Keller would have remained unknown. But if it had not been for a kind and dedicated nurse, the name of Annie Sullivan would have remained unknown.

Nowadays, the problem of generation gap becomes more and more serious.Based on the survey by our school, the poor relationship between parents and their children is very common.1. Or,do the strict family rules affect their relationship?
Firstly,in most of the families in the US,both of the parents have to go out for work in order to earn more money to provide better environment for their lovely children.Unfortunately, this causes the rare communication between them and their children, since these parents always take a rest during leisure time. These parents and children cannot know deeply about each other. Then friction(Ħ) is easy to appear.2. Secondly, parents who ask their children to be absolute obedient to them is also one of the grave causes of generation gap between them. Therefore, these children are not willing to communicate with their parents and most of these parents are not active to talk with their children.3.
To solve these problems, the busy parents should devote their spare time to communicating with their children actively so as to improve their relationship. At the same time, they can also observe their childrens behavior in order to understand their childrens personality and reduce the quarrel between them.
4. No doubt that can give a better image to their children since it can make their children feel free to chat with their parents. Then it is easy for the parents to approach their lovely children. Therefore,a close and harmonious relationship between parents and children appears.
In conclusion,to have a close relationship between parents and children, the parents should devote their leisure time to talking with their children and observing their childrens personality and give their children the approaching images.5. A.Therefore,a wide generation gap comes into being. B.Thus, misunderstanding between them often occurs. C.Are these problems caused by the busy parents? D.Who are these problems more upsetting to?
