Scholars ,both Chinese and Western, say that fraud remains rampant and misconduct ranges from falsified data to fibs about degrees, cheating on test and extensive plagiarism. Such lapses of integrity are not unique to China but poor-review mechanisms, misguided incentives and a lack of check on academic behavior all allow fraud to be more common. Although the Chinese government declares zero tolerance on academic fraud,in practice,few researchers are seriously punished for their misconduct.
Fang Zhouzi, a critic who has been fighting academic fraud in China for years, said that aa profound change was needed in the way researcher’s work is evaluated.I believe that the widespread problem of academic fraud will take much more than individual whistleblowers like Fang Zhouzi to solve.
The risk is that genuinely qualified students are turned away because of general suspicion and fraud. To solve the problem, first is the functional departments should face the great harm ,academic misconducts it as governance in some academic corruption and key management.
