To learn the three-skilled phrases: have a sore throat; 3. To learn the three-skilled sentences and apply in the oral practice: What’s the matter, Mike? I feel sick. I have a fever. 4. To sing the chant. 1. To make a good command of the key words and phrases; 2. To know how to inquire after someone’s health. 1. To spell and write the four-skilled words and phrases; 2. To pronounce the word: “ throat, sore” 教学 重点 教学 难点 教学准备 word cards, pictures, tape, recorder, a thermometer, a cap of the doctor 预习 提纲 时间 2’ 3’ 5’ 21’ 1. Students revise the learned sentence: What’s the matter with you? 2. Students revise the words, eg: doctor, nurse, hospital… 教 学 过 程 Step 1 Preparation English time: 2 students make a free talk. Step 2 Warm-up 1. To sing a song: The Way I Feel 2. Oral practice: T: What do you do? Ss: I am a student. T: What does your do? Ss: He is a doctor. T: Where does he work? Ss: He works in the hospital. Step 3 Preview Make a dialogue: T: On the weekend I like reading books. How can I do? Where can I go? Ss: You can go to the library or bookstore to buy some books. T: If I am hungry, where can I go? Ss: You can go to the canteen or KFC. T: If I feel sick, where can I go? Ss: You can go to the hospital and see the doctor. T: Ok! Today the weather is bad. Many students feel sick. Let’s go to the hospital and see them. Step 4 Presentation (1) Presentation of the new phrases Teacher shows some pictures and describes them. T: What’s the matter with Mike? (Write the sentence on the blackboard and read it. Emphasize the key word “matter”.) He has a fever. (Present the new phrase “have a fever”. Teacher can do action to help students understand the word.) “have a fever”(Emphasize the key word “fever”.) Reading practice: “fever, fever, have a fever”(Read it one by one, or group by group.) (Present the other phrases “have a cold / toothache / headache / sore throat” in the same way.) (2) Practice A. Teacher does action, students guess and read out the word. B. A student does action, the other students read out the words and describe him or her. S1: What’s the matter with him/her? S2: He/She has a fever/cold/toothache.. (3) Oral practice A student acts the doctor, the other student acts the patient. S1: What’s the matter with you? S2: I have a cold/headache/toothache/fever/sore throat. My nose/leg/hand… hurts. (4) Listen and read Students listen to the tape and read after the tape. Then students read in chorus. (5) Look and say Look through the pictures in the text and describe the pictures. Mike has a fever. Zhang Peng’s leg hurts. Sarah has a cold Peter has a toothache. John has a headache. Liu Yun has a sore throat. Step 5 Consolidation 7’ (1) Doing exercises Activity Book (2) Let’s chant Step 6 Brief summary (1) Learn the verb phrases about illness 2’ (2) Taka care. Rest more, study better. (2) Spell the phrases Step 4 Presentation (1) Practice the key sentences A student acts the doctor, the other student acts the patient. S1: What’s the matter with you? S2: I have a cold / headache / toothache / fever / sore throat. 7’ 2’ My nose / leg / hand… hurts. Report other students’ health. S3: Eric feels sick. He has a headache. S4: Eileen feels sick. She has a toothache. (2) Presentation of the dialogue T: If you feel sick, you go to see the doctor. How do you say? Amy feels sick today. She goes to see the doctor. Let’s have a look. A: Listen and read Students listen to the tape once, and then read after the tape. Students read in chorus. B: Make a dialogue Students imitate the dialogue and make a new dialogue. S1: How do you feel? S2: I feel sick. S1: What’s the matter? S2: My throat is sore. My nose hurts. (3) Practice Look and say Students look at the pictures and make oral practice. Picture 1: The boy has a headache. Picture 2: The boy has a toothache. Picture 3: The boy has a fever. (Imitate the dialogue to apply to the key sentences.) (4) Listen and number Students listen to the tape and number the pictures. 1: I have a cold. I have a sore nose. 2: My throat hurts. I have a sore throat. 3: I hurt my hand. 4: I have a fever. I think I have the flu. 5: I feel sick. I have a headache. (5) Let’s play Play the game —— Bingo Step 5 Consolidation (1) Doing exercises Activity Book (2) Let’s chant Step 6 Brief summary (1) Learn the key sentences to inquire after others healty.
