Playing a violin with three strings

On Nov.18, 1995, Itzhak Perlman, the violinist, came on stage to give a concert. The audience sat quietly while he made his way across the stage to his chair and began his play. But this time, something went wrong. Just as he finished the first few bars, one of the strings on his violin broke. We thought that he would have to stop the concert. (25) ________ everyone‘s expectation, he waited a moment, closed his eyes and then signaled (26) ________ conductor to begin again.

The orchestra began and he played with such passion and such power and such purity (27) ________ they had never heard before.

Of course, anyone knows that no one (28) ________ play a harmonious work with just three strings. I know that, and you know that, (29) ________ that night Itzhak Perlman refused to know that. When he finished, there was an awesome silence in the room. And then people rose and cheered. He smiled, wiped the sweat from his brow and then he said in a quiet, sacred tone, ―You know, sometimes it is the artist‘s task to find out how much music you can still make with (30) ________ you have left.‖

This powerful line has stayed in my mind ever since I heard it. And who knows? Perhaps that is the definition of life –not just for artists but for all of us.

He has prepared all his life to make music on a violin of four strings, but all of a sudden, in the middle of a concert, he finds himself with only three strings; so it is with three strings (31) ________ he makes music, and the music he made that night with just three strings was more memorable than any that (32) ________ (make) before.

I wanted to see if it was (36) ________ (easy) than I expected it to be, yes, but I also wanted to see if I could influence (37) ________ I was communicating with to overthrow their use of text and start using emoji while talking to me.

A few years ago ,MaxineBedat looked in her closet. It was full of clothes, but she had nothing to wear. ―That was(25)it was a closet full of fast fashion based on hyper-trends(超时尚)from one season to the next,‖said Maxine.

―Fast fashion‖ means clothes which are inexpensive but look like(26)(late)designs from top fashion houses. One reason for the success of the fast fashion is rise of the social media. A report found that Millennials(千禧一代)want to wear a variety of clothes in the photos they post on social media. As a result, many businesses which offer trendy and low-cost clothes grow quickly. However, some Millennials are not happy with the rise of fast fashion. Maxine was tired of always shopping for(27)was in style. Instead, she wanted to buy fewer clothes she could wear over and over. Brad closed the door slowly as Sue left home to visit her mother. (32) (Expect) a whole day to relax, he was thinking whether to read the newspaper or watch his favourite TV talk show on his first day off in months. ―This will be a walk in the park,‖ he‘d told his wife. ―I‘ll look after the kids, and you can go visit your mom.‖

Things started well, but just after eight o‘clock, his three little ―good kids‖—Mike, Randy, and Alex—came down the stairs in their night clothes and shouted ―breakfast, daddy.‖ When food had not appeared within thirty seconds, Randy began using his spoon on Alex‘s head(33)it were a drum. Life became worse after breakfast. Mike wore Randy‘s underwear on his head. Randy locked(35) in the bathroom, while Alex shouted again because he was going to wet his pants. Nobody could find clean socks,(36) they were before their very eyes. Someone(37) (name)―Not Me‖ had spilled a whole glass of orange juice into the basket of clean clothes. Brad knew the talk show had already started.

By ten o‘clock, things were out of control. Alex was wondering why the fish in the jar refused his bread and butter.
