BIOLOGY - “OUR PLANT KINGDOM” 我们的植物王国

1 Before today’s lesson ask students: Warm up ? What can roots do? Did your carnation change color? (5-min) ? If they make mistakes about last lesson, correct them in the positive way. * What can leaves do for a plant? 叶子对植物来说有什么用？ * What is pollination? 什么是授粉？ * What is photosynthesis? 什么是光合作用？ PARTS OF THE PLANT - Leaves Keep going. I see the leaves ahead. We’ll squeeze into the inside of a leaf. A leaf’s job is to gather sunlight and make food for the plant. 继续前进。我看到前面的叶子了。我们要挤到叶子里面去。叶子的作用是采集阳光并为植物准备养料。 The process of a leaf making food is called photosynthesis. What an interesting word! MENU 3 (2-min) Plants produce seeds. 植物会结出种子。 Some seeds, like the dandelion seeds, are so light, the wind can cary them very far away. 有些种子非常轻，比如蒲公英的种子，风会把它们带到很远的地方。 And new dandelions will grow where the seeds land. 种子落在哪里，新的蒲公英就会在哪里生长。 Larger seeds – such as the avocado or mango, which grow in tropical areas, fall close to their original, or parent plant, and begin to grow right there.一些长在热带地区的大些的种子――比如鳄梨或芒果的种子，落在离树很近的地方，然后就在那儿长成新的树。 Ocean currents transport some beach plant seeds.
