e.g. Paul is generous and very imaginative. His cousin is a driver. They were at home last night. 4. Object(direct or indirect) 宾语(直接宾语或间接宾语):一般位于及物动词之后,表示动作、行为的对象。由名词、代词等充当,和及物动词一起说明主语做什么。宾语又可分为直接宾语和间接宾语,直接宾语指“物”,间接宾语指“人”。 e.g. My sister answered the phone. Peter has learned to speak English. They will give him a football. 间宾 直宾 5. Attributive(定语): 用来修饰名词或代词,起限定作用,通常由形容词、代词、数词、名词、介词短语、从句等来表示。 e.g. It was a rainy, windy day. Is there anything important to discuss at the meeting? 会上有什么重要事情讨论吗? It’s a cotton shirt. 6. Adverbial(状语):用来修饰动词、形容词或副词,一般表示行为发生的时间、地点、目的、方式、程度等,通常由副词、介词短语、从句等来表示。 e.g. He left his hometown in 1977. I met my friend on the bus yesterday. He understands us very well. It is typical of Simon to make such a mess. 西蒙总是把东西弄得乱糟糟的。 typical 形容词,“典型的,代表性的” a typical Englishman 一个典型的英国人 It is typical of sb to do sth. . “做??是某人的特征”。 e.g. It is typical of him to forget his keys.他总是忘记带钥匙。(忘带钥匙是他的特点)

mess 名词,“杂乱、纷乱”的意思 This room is in a mess. 这个房间很乱。

Integrated Skills

1. I will need to get lots of rest and eat healthy food if I am feeling weak. Otherwise, I might get sick. (P14) 如果感到虚弱,我就要充分休息并吃些有益健康的食品,否则,我可能会生病的。otherwise 作连词,是“否则、不然”的意思,相当于“or”,只是比“or”正式。e.g. Work hard, otherwise you’ll regret. Put on your raincoat, otherwise you’ll get wet.

2. Remember to give it to the police. 要记得把它给警察。 remember 动词“记得” remember to do sth 记得将要做某事 e.g. I remember to phone him. 我记得要给他打电话。 remember doing sth 记得过去曾经做过某事

e.g. I remember phoning him. 我记得给他打过电话了。

Study Skills

1. I’d like to recommend David as the new chairperson of the Students’ Union. 我想推荐David当选新一届学生会主席。

recommend sb as 推荐某人为??;称赞某人为?? e.g. He recommend me as the monitor of our class. Can you recommend Lucy as a good singer?

2. This means he is probably lively and clever. 这就意味着他可能既活泼又聪明。 probably 副词,“很可能、大概”。 它常位于行为动词之前,助动词、情态动词或联系动词之后。e.g. She will probably reach Shanghai tomorrow. You can probably tell us the whole story.

Main Task

1. Never forgets to do the things he needs to do. (他)从来不会忘记他需要做的事。

forget to do sth. 忘记将要做某事,表示动作还没有发生。 e.g. She forgot to clean the classroom yesterday.

forget doing sth. 忘记曾经做过某事,表示动作已在过去发生过。 e.g. I will never forget visiting the Great Wall.

2. Not afraid of making a speech in assembly. (他)不害怕在晨会上发言。 be afraid of sth /sb / doing sth. 害怕某事 / 某人 / 做某事 e.g. The girl is afraid of dogs. They are afraid of going skating. 3. We are writing to recommend ?? the Students’ Union.

write to do sth. 表示“写信做某事” e.g. He wrote to ask me to send money. 4. He often helps us with our homework and explains the things to us. 他经常在家庭作业上帮助我们,并且向我们解释。

explain sth. to sb. 向某人解释某物 e.g. Can you explain the reason to me?
