Unit 5 What were you doing when the rainstorm came

第一课时(1a-2d)

典案一 教学设计 Step 1 Lead-in

1.先出示半张图片,问:“What is he doing?Can you guess?”当有同学猜对时,让同学们看全图,帮他们一起回答这个问题,“He is…”(板书)

2.然后用同样的方法再出示一张图片,复习一下现在进行时,然后出示一个小女孩唱歌的图片,问:“What is the little girl doing?”要求同学们一起回答:“She is singing.”

3. 进一步引入时态:If the action happened at ten o'clock yesterday morning, how can we answer it?帮助学生回答,“She was singing.”(教读并板书),用英语问:“What was the little girl doing at ten o'clock yesterday morning?” (教读并板书),再一次帮同学们一起回答:“She was singing.”

Step 2 Learning and practice 根据ppt展示的图片,熟悉句型。 A: What is the little girl doing? B: She is singing.

A: What was she doing at ten o'clock yesterday morning? B: She was singing.

要求学生以多种形式练习上面重要的句型,如:教师问,学生答;男生问,女生答等。以同样的方法练习其他人称he,they。

Step 3 Drill

利用多媒体展示一组图片,要求同学们以小组的形式练习重要句型。 What was /were sb. doing at this time yesterday? Sb. was/were…

在展示的整个过程中,教师所要做的是点拨、追问、适当点评。 Step 4 Guess

1.听一组声音,让同学们猜:What's the weather like now?边听声音边帮助学生回答:There is lightning.There is thunder。

2.解释:It's a rainstorm.出示暴风雨天气的图片,教读单词rainstorm。 Step 5 Learning and practice 学习新句型并反复练习。

Where was /were sb. when the rainstorm came? Sb. was/were in the library.

What was/were sb. doing at the time of the rainstorm? Sb. was/were reading. Step 6 Matching

Where were the people at the time of the rainstorm? Match the statements in 1a with the people in the picture.

Step 7 Listening practice 1.借助教具,运用肢体语言教新单词和新短语: alarm, go off, take a shower, suddenly, heavily。

2.听1b,2a,2b的录音,并完成题目中的任务。 Step 8 Report

What were you doing at different times last Sunday? Interview two friends and fill in the table.Then give a report.

Step 9 Summary

这节内容相当于小结,总结在Section A里面主要讲到的几个重要句型。为了让同学们轻松地记住这些重要句型,激发他们学英语的兴趣,可借用If you are happy的旋律编一首小曲:

Where was she when the rainstorm came? She was in the library.

What was she doing at the time of the rainstorm? She was reading.

Where was he when the rainstorm came? He was on the street.

What was he doing at the time of the rainstorm? He was walking home.

Task 1: Where were the people at the time of the rainstorm? Match the statements with the people in the picture.(1a)

Task 2: Listening(1b)

What were they doing when the rainstorm came? Let's listen. Pay attention to “was/were+doing”. Task 3: Speaking

Look at the pictures on Page 33 and answer the questions using “was/were+doing”.

e.g.: A: What was the boy doing at the time of the rainstorm? B: He ________________. Task 4: Listening (2a-2b)

2a: Listen and number the pictures [1-5].

2b: Listen again. Fill in the blanks in the sentences in 2a. Task 5: Speaking

Use the information in 2a to retell the story in a conversation between the boy and a TV reporter.

三、展示质疑与小结

1.I was waiting for the bus when it began to rain heavily. begin v.(过去式为began;过去分词为begun)意为“开始”。 常用的句型: begin to do与begin doing

一般来说,begin to do和begin doing可以互换,但在以下三种情况下,必须用begin to do。

(1)主语不是指人,而是it等。 如: It began to rain.

(2)begin后接表示心理活动的词,如: know, believe, wonder, think等。 (3)begin本身为ing形式,为避免重复,后接to do。 即: beginning to do 2.I was so busy looking for the umbrella that I didn't see a car coming. busy 意为“繁忙的,忙碌的”。

常用的句型: be busy doing sth. 与 be busy with sth.

我昨天这个时候正忙着写作业。I was busy doing homework at this time yesterday. 3.过去进行时

(1) I was at home doing my homework at the time of the rainstorm. (2) I was waiting like that for maybe almost one hour. 定义: 过去进行时主要表示在过去某个时刻或过去某段时间内正在进行的动作或存在的状态。

构成: was/were+doing+过去的时刻 四、能力检测

(一)根据句意及首字母或汉语提示完成句子。

1.According to a ________(报告) in the newspaper, the basketball star was seriously injured.

2.I was watching TV.________(突然) the TV set was turned off by my mother. 3.I had too much work to do, so I ________ (错过) my lunch.

4.Look! It's raining h________. I am afraid we can't go swimming.

5.I got up late this morning because my a________ was broken and it didn't wake me up.

(二)翻译句子。

1.昨天晚上八点半我正在看电视。(汉译英)

1.Ask the students to talk about what they were doing at seven last night in groups of four and then give a report.

2.Translate the following phrases.
