To understand some of the advantages of the robots. Teaching procedures: Step 1 New words

robot n. 机器人

whatever pron. 任何,一切事物 Step 2 Lead-in

1. Have you seen robots in the films? 2. What kind of robots do you know? 3. What do you think robots can do for you? Let students look at the picture then read them aloud. Step 3 Exercises

Do you know how robots could help us? Match each phrase with the correct

picture.

Amy is asking Daniel how robots could help us in our daily lives. Work in

pairs and talk about your ideas. Use the conversation below as a model. Step 5 Presentation

Show the flash and the pictures to the students. Step 6 Ask and answer

Listen to the dialogue between Eddie and Hobo and answer the following

questions:

1. What is Eddie doing?

2. Why does Eddie want to complain to the robot shop?

3. What does Eddie want Hobo to do? 4. Why doesn’t Hobo post the letter for Eddie? Step 7 Language points

Robots are becoming a big part of our lives. There may be half a million robots in the U.S. 20 years from now. These machines are changing the way work is being done. Thousands of robots are used in factories. These robots are not like the robots in movies. They don’t walk or talk .Instead, a robot may be just a metal arm .the robot arm can do a certain job in a factory over and over again. It can do jobs that people may not want to do. A robot never gets tired of doing the same thing. Sometimes a robot gets to do more exciting work. In Canada, the police are using a robot on wheels. This robot’s job is to take apart(清除)bombs that may go off(爆炸).
