Unit 8 When is your birthday

【Curriculum requirements】 The focus of this unit is the expression of the date. The students will be able to master the change from cardinal numbers from ordinal numbers. the students will be able to know the expression of some festivals. The students Analysis of will be able to arrange their life in a schedule and learn to ask their family the Teaching members’ birthdays. Material Analysis of the Teaching Material: This is the second period of this unit; the students will get to know something about the rules of the change from cardinal numbers to ordinal numbers. Students will be able to learn and use “when” questions to talk about the birthdays. 1. Students will be able to master the following new words: first second third fifth eighth ninth twelfth twentieth 2. Students will be able to understand and use the sentence patterns well: (1) ---When is your birthday? --- It’s ?. (2) --- How old are you? --- I’m ?. 3. The rules of the change from cardinal numbers to the ordinal numbers. 1. Students will be able to learn to use the possessive case of nouns. 2. Students will be able to talk about people’s ages and birthdays. 3. Students will be able to make their own ID cards. Teaching Procedures Step I Revision 1. Review the words of months January February March April May June July August September October November 2. Review the simple expression of the dates. November13th September 10th 3.review the sentence ask about one’s birthday A: When is your birthday? B: It is on may2nd. Step Ⅱ 1. Listen to the radio and do some exercises about the ordinal numbers. 2. Learn the rules of the change from cardinal numbers to ordinal numbers. (1)什么叫序数词?是指表示顺序的数词 (2)基数词变序数词的规则: 基变序,有规律, 第一、二、三单独记。 -th 从四加起,八去t来九去e。 遇到ve, f替, -ty变为tie, 后跟-th莫迟疑。 若想表示几十几, 只变个位就可以。 For example: eight---eighth nine---ninth one---first two—second three—third five—fifth twenty—twentieth thirty---thirtieth twelve---twelfth fifty-one—fifty-first 3. Teacher-student Interaction The teacher dictates the words of the months. The students check the dictation of the words of the months. The teacher asks the students to practice the dialogue in front of the blackboard. The teacher gives the rules to the students, and makes the students work in groups to try to understand the rules by themselves.
