The woman robot has been called a “robot goddess” by her online fans, and some who met her at a recent exhibition were shocked by her lifelike appearance.
Jia Jia stood near the entrance of the exhibition hall that hosted this year’s 2016 Summer Davos(2016届夏季达沃斯论坛)in Tianjin. She was dressed in a traditional Chinese costume, hairstyle, and immediately caught the attention of passers-by. This lifelike robot was created by the engineer Chen Xiaoping and his workmates at the University of Science and Technology of China.

It’s reported that she is also able to make micro-expressions and recognize the facial expressions of others. She is thought to be one of a kind in China, although in the past few years there have been other similar “smart” robots made by engineers.
According to reports, Chinese are taking a great interest in robotic technologies. Robots were sold for more than 25 percent of global industrial(工业)robot sales in 2015—62,000 of 248,000 units sold worldwide last year.
“We hope to develop the robot so it has deep learning abilities. We will add facial expression recognition and make it have more deep conversations with people.” Xiaoping explained.
