havebeeninvolvedin.Thedetailofthisinformationwillvarydependingupon

whatispublishedbyaparticulardatasource.Thisinformationwillthenbe

reasonedagainsttoinferadditionalfactsabouttheindividualsthatmaynot

havebeenexplicitlystated-forexampleprojectsthattheyhaveworkedonor

papersthattheyhavepublishedcanimplyadditionalresearchinterests.

Whenbuildingaworkgroup,theuseroftheapplicationspeci esexplicitcon-

straintspertainingtothenatureoftheworkgroup(forexample,theworkgroup

hasthefocusof“MachineLearning”andcannotcontainmorethan10persons).

Inadditiontothese,therearefurtherimplicitconstraintsthatarealsoapplied

(forexample,aworkgroupmustcontainatleasttwopeopleandapersoncan

onlybeamemberofoneworkgroupatatime).

Thedataanditsassociatedconstraintsarepassedontoaconstraintsolver

(Prolog)sothatasuitableworkgroup(orworkgroups)canbecomposedsatisfy-

ingallthesespeci edconstraints.Onceasolutionhas(orhasnot)beenreached,

theuserwillbepresentedwiththeproposedmembersoftheworkgroup(s)(see

gure3)orinformedthatnosolutioncanbefound.

Thetimetakentogatherinformationandperformreasoningfallsoutwith

thetimedeemedasacceptabletoserveaWebpageinreal-time.Toovercome

thishurdle,theapplicationwasdesignedtocreateapre-reasonedtriple-cache

storedinaMySQL5backenddatabase,populatedpriortoworkgroupbuilding.

Werecognisethatthisisnotideal,especiallybecauseasinglepointforserving
