Preparation of Nd doped BiFeO3 powders by hydrothermal method and performance research

Abstract: In this paper, we reports the effect of Nd doping on structural, morphological and optical
properties of Nd doped Bi1-xNdxFeO3 (x = 0.00, 0.050, 0.075, 0.050) powders synthesized by hydrothermal method. XRD research shows that when 10% of Nd doped will still be able to obtain BiFeO3 perovskite structure, but appear Bi2Fe4O9 phase. The SEM results show that with the increase of Nd doped concentration, the size of
BiFeO3 powders become smaller. FTRI studies have shown that BiFeO3 with perovskite structure, Nd doping led lattice distortion. Ultraviolet-visible absorption spectrum showed that BiFeO3 in 550-650nm wavelength range there is a wide absorption band. The corresponding energy band gap of the samples decreases with the increase of Nd-doping concentration.
